respect is professional. for companies and organisations.

Respect is the basic building block of communication. When there is no respect, problems such as mobbing, bossing or harassment tend to emerge. We help setting mechanisms of prevention, as well as handling already existing issues. How to facilitate a better work environment? What can we do to prevent bullying, mobbing, bossing or harassment in work teams?

respect is professional. how to do it?

Nurturing your team’s wellbeing and good work environment is the basic requirement for building trust and team spirit in your organisation or company. Companies that invest in prevention of sexual harassment, discrimination and bullying, and those that are able to effectively address the incidents, have more women in leading positions and their teams are more diversified and stable. Also, as a consequence of higher trust between employees, they report better work results.

The Respect is professional project reacts to each client’s situation and requirements individually. In order to determine what kind of problems are experienced within a particular organisation, we will perform an analysis of the existing organisational environment in the form of questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and observations. Based on that analysis, we will propose solutions and introduce new mechanisms to prevent and solve the problems – all of that tailored to the organisation’s specific needs. Afterwards, we will help to implement these solutions by a system of workshops and trainings.

workshops and trainings

Our workshops about respect in the workplace are designed to prevent unwanted phenomena such as mobbing, bossing, bullying or sexual harassment. The workshops are a part of a wider toolbox that we will help you implement. Alternatively, you can order them separately and use them as team-building activities, as we also employ methods of informal education.

why is that needed.

Harassment and bullying seriously impact the affected employees – that creates demotivation, fear, anxiety, shame and anger. All of that leads to lowering productivity. Affected individuals tend to be more absent from work (absenteeism). Even when they are present at the workplace, their performance does not correspond to their potential due to their severely impacted mental state.  In work teams where bullying and sexual harassment is present, we can see lower trust as well as slower progress and innovation.  Employees affected by bullying, harassment, or discrimination  resign in most cases, which increases the costs of recruitment and trainings. On top of that, those employees who only get formal prevention trainings (videos and basic e-learning programmes) do not have trust that the addressed problems are taken seriously in their work collective.

what are the consequences of bullying and sexual harassment at the workplace?

The affected individuals experience fear, anxiety, demotivation and shame

The affected individuals experience paralysing anxiety (80%), panic attacks (52%), depression (42%) or post-traumatic stress (30%)

      The victims are less productive

They are often absent from work

Trust is lowered in affected work teams

Creativity, innovation and progress slow down

There is higher turnover in affected teams / companies

      The costs of onboarding increase

Up to 25% of employees have experienced bullying in the workplace (STEM / MARK).

In most cases, victims of bullying are women (27%), and after them are men (19%). About 43% of bullied individuals periodically experience it at least once a week, when more than 50% of employees have been exposed to bullying for more than one year. Approximately three-fifths of employees are bullied by their superiors at work and one quarter is bullied by their colleagues.

40-50% of women experienced sexual harassment at the workplace (EP 2018). As a consequence of harassment, up to 55% of affected employees resign (Italy, 2004). Harassment is not only affecting women – 12% of men experienced it at the workplace, too (Angus Reid Institute CA). Men who experience harassment at the workplace are less likely to be believed by others and it is even more difficult for them to access help.
